The Rush of Rain

I stood there. He stood there. We were inches apart, but the feeling was far. Neither of us saying a word and at this point it seemed like we’d never be able to recover from what had just been said.

“Noah, I’m going to tell you something,” I said my voice about to choke on the tension in the air. I would not look him in the eyes and I detached myself from the situation. There could be no connection or else this recollection would be disastrous.

He did not reply, he merely waited for me to speak. I was not talking for at least five minutes, because I was staring at the ground trying to see if it would tell me the perfect words. As if getting lost in the simplicity of the asphalt would make every word come out simple and straightforward.

But I am not a straightforward girl and Noah is not a stupid boy. Noah understands what I’m doing even if he doesn’t like it.

“When I finish, don’t reply to anything I’ve just said unless you really must,” I said and I didn’t have to look up to know he was nodding his head.

“Don’t worry, it isn’t bad,” I said. Those were the last words I remembered saying before everything was a blur and the words were coming out of my mouth fluidly as if they knew how to arrange themselves without my help. The words took over and my mind was no longer there. It was somewhere distant with the memories I am about to share.

******************

Last night, Noah told me the most amazing thing. Whether I found it good or bad was what I could not process. Last night it sounded so good, but it felt so bad. In contrast, this morning it was horrible, but it felt great. Why did those words have to stick in my head?! From night to my waking, I had to endure them. They’re driving me insane.

Of course, that’s not the worst part of it. Now, my mind is literally overflowing with every tiny detail, every change in voice intonation, every single word uttered from Noah’s mouth, and every cute laugh he would give out. Somehow none of it processed though. It just made my mind a landfill and the trash was the words I was taking in. Absolute trash. Absolute trash those words were. They meant nothing. They’ll never mean a thing. At least, that’s what my mind tells me. The heart is a scary thing. Always trying to dictate what it wants over what the mind wants; in this case, my heart was a canvas and the words were the picture. Art, so beautiful, meaningful to me, and sacred. They were all I ever wanted and needed, but still something did not feel right. How do I choose between intuition and logic when they’re both so different?

My mind and heart had just been in a race and now they were at it again. Would the madness ever stop?

No. The madness does not stop. It starts outside. To be specific, at 10:10 a.m. On a bright and sunny day. Physical education. Symbolism? Pain.

As if my body didn’t feel dirty enough from the words that Noah had said, I laid down on the ground feeling grime stain my hands.

Suddenly, it began to rain and all the dirtiness I had felt before seemed to wash away. Sadly, you can’t wash away what the mind and the heart want and that was Noah. Noah was what I wanted at that moment. All of him, not just part of him. I’m hypocritical in that sense. I know that when I’m with him I try my best to give him all of me, but I only give him the surface.

How was the rain you ask? It was scattered. A natural representation of my thoughts, but Noah will never see.

The clouds were even more magnificent than the rain that was falling on my body still trying to wash the sin away. The clouds seemed to cover me from the truth while the rain was washing me off, but both could not fulfill their task completely. My mind and heart were out of control. But I still looked up as I laid down and tried to let the rain and clouds fix what they could.

How did the clouds move you ask? They moved as fast as my mind. They crashed one after the other into each other like the million thoughts trying to be processed in my brain. Somehow the sky had the same overload as me, because the sky turned completely gray.

The mind is a funny tool. One moment it’s gone and then it’s back. Like the sky that was gray unexpectedly became blue. My mind was clear for a second.

The clarity I felt that made me want Noah more was all a lie I had formulated because of the events in the sky. I felt at peace because the weather looked like it was at peace, but like any person, the weather is a liar. It lies constantly, constantly, but you want to believe in something that isn’t the truth. Lying to yourself? Insanity!

Noah, am I even thinking of you?

YES OF COURSE I’M THINKING OF YOU!!! OH, HOW I WANT YOU WITH ME?! I NEED YOU TO EXPLAIN YOUR WORDS TO ME, BECAUSE MY MIND DOESN’T SEEM TO BE WORKING!

Physical education forced me to run and even though I was with my class I felt completely alone out here in this somewhat gloomy yet simple atmosphere. I ran and I ran and I kept running, but from what? We were all running for something, but me, I didn’t know my purpose anymore. I didn’t have a purpose anymore. I could no longer see it clearly.

Like that, a gust of a wind and a rush of rain, stronger and heavier than before, came back to startle my mind and soul. This time, however, the rain was not scattered. It was perfectly in place covering every aspect of space. The ground, the trees, the cars, everything! The rain covered every inch and every centimeter.

It even covered me. Somehow, I felt as if the rain hated me. It hated me so much, but it felt so loving. It hit my body various times making me cold all over. The drenching feeling felt so good, it was simply refreshing. I hadn’t felt this way in such a long time. It was such a sudden change. It was the best sudden change I could ask for; nothing and everything could ruin this day.

Yes, the goodness of the rain, the liberty, the freedom. Sadly, everything has a bad side to it and for the rain that was the blinding aspect of it.

Like anything we find pretty, there’s always something behind the looks, the façade. The rain has a façade? The worst of them all! It can hurt you emotionally and physically when you least expect it, just as it’s done to me. It hit my eyes continuously, momentarily blurring my sight. A sea of tears streamed down my face, a million emotions being conveyed. Joy, sadness, pain, all three? It was so confusing and that’s why I felt like the emotion I had was nothing.

The nothingness of my disposition seemed to make me feel confined, but mixed with the freedom of the rain on my body, everything seemed alright. Yes, everything was alright! For at that moment, I felt free. I felt as free as a bird. Yet somehow, I also felt confined by the rain as it was dragging me down.

The rain wanted me to escape, but I couldn’t.

Noah wants all of me, but could I?

Running? What good was it for? Clearing out the mind or making me feel even worse? How did it do both at the same time? Was it a rush of rain that we all felt? Did Noah feel it, too? Had I even felt it? No. I’d felt greatness.

Absolute greatness.

Back at school and with my entire class, I stood underneath the protection of the building rather than heading to the blacktop.

Rebellion? No. Just safety.

Safety? Yes. Just in the form of rebellion.

Noah will never see it. He’ll never experience it the way I did. It was just so beautiful looking at the emptiness of the area we would have filled. The simple aesthetic so visually pleasing, while the patter of the rain was so pleasing to the ears. Yes, it was pleasing. Something as simple as this.

So simple, like Noah’s words.

I’ll admit it now, his words were pleasing, too.

Did that moment feel good yet? Of course. It was perfection.

Did that moment feel bad yet? Of course. It was disaster.

I’m so indecisive, but, how can I not be? When everything’s beautiful yet ugly, there’s nothing else you can be.

Noah, oh, Noah. His words that would not leave my mind. Beautiful to my ears, but ugly within some amount of time.

These feelings seemed to slow down as the feeling of invigoration left me; as it left me, the rain stopped with it, too.

When did the rain stop? Why did the rain stop? How did the rain stop? So many questions, but one simple answer.

It wanted to.

My feelings of distraction of overwhelming thoughts were gone and my head had become so clear.

Noah’s words made so much more sense to me now, now that my feelings had practically disappeared.

Peace in my body. Peace in my mind. Peace in my heart. There was so much more peace this time.
******************

My lips had stopped moving and I knew I was done. I finally looked up at Noah and his face was unreadable. I’m glad it was, too. If I knew what he was thinking, I’d regret everything I had just said.

Before he could say anything, I frankly told him, “It wasn’t straightforward and I’m sorry for that, but try to figure it out yourself, Noah. You’ll understand.”

Feelings 3.9.15

Remember That Kid I Liked...

Well, he blocked me online on that one site. Isn't that great? How wonderful! I thought he was different, too. I thought he was a nice genuine person and that's why it didn't bother me that he didn't like me. Now, knowing that he's not even nice, because he didn't really have a reason to block me. I haven't talked to him in so long that I forgot about him in my heart. I never lost sight of him, but I never thought of him as mine anymore. I'm just so down because of this and I don't understand why. I think the fact that no boy has ever liked me is why I'm so down. No boy has ever told me that I'm pretty or that they like like me or any of those other cheesy things. Not one. Not ever and I believe that it will never happen. I don't want you guys to feel bad for me, because I'm strong and I don't need it. I just need you to read this and think about it for yourselves. Do you really want to be with anybody if you think no one will like you for you? I just couldn't be someone else and I'm not sorry if I approach guys really straightforward, because you know what! It's me and if you can't love me for me, then why should I love you back. All I ever wanted was someone who could talk to me about whatever it was they wanted, it didn't necessarily have to be a boyfriend it just had to be someone who I felt a close connection with. I'm not anything that guys want so I doubt any boy will ever like me, but I don't mind. I can be by myself. I'll go through heartbreak after heartbreak and I'll still stand strong, because it shows that even if I stand alone I'm just as good as people who have that other person who helps them to be strong.

It's really funny how all the nice people are staring you right in the face, but you decide not to get to know them. It's amazing how people never try to get to know someone, because they have this already have this whole opinion formulated about them. If you ever read this M******, I really do hope you think about it next time, because it's too late now. As if you even care right. *smiles* Have a nice life and I really do mean that. I want to look back and say, "Yeah, I liked him. What a stud, but he was a jerk."

My Crush 2.2.15

And So I Am Not Even Sure Anymore...

About my "love" for this boy. I think that I do not like him anymore and that the infatuation has run out. Infatuation is a strange thing, yes, indeed it is. Liking this boy has taught me something though. It's taught me that even though someone doesn't share the same feelings as you and doesn't return them back, doesn't mean anything is wrong with you. I thought a little, that something was wrong with me and maybe I shouldn't have been so weird--WHAT AM I SAYING?! OF COURSE I SHOULD HAVE BEEN WEIRD!!! If a guy can't accept you for who you are then screw them, you deserve someone who will love everything about you, not someone who just deals with it. That's not fair to you.
My curiosity doesn't even come when I see him and my eyes don't widen like they used to. In fact, I'm trying to act as though he never existed. It's a shame, there don't seem to be any other intriguing guys in my school.
I think and this might sound crazy, but I think I'm fine living my life as a single girl. For the rest of my life, no relationships, just my friends. It sounds kind of sad actually. I really want to cry, because I don't think anyone will ever love me since I'm so damn weird and I can't even act like a normal girl for once in my life. Oh, gosh, why am I crying about it. That doesn't make the least bit sense, I'm perfectly fine.

"If You Love Somebody, Let Them Go, for if They Return, They Were Always Yours. And If They Don't, They Never Were."
-Khalil Gibran

I did let him go for a month, and he never seemed to react...which means we aren't meant to be. Also, it's kind of funny, but this would have been my fourth month liking him, which would have made it "love". Love, such a nice idea, but not very nice when you end up getting it.

"Originality is independence, not rebellion; it is sincerity, not antagonism."
-George Henry Lewes

I am not as horrible as people make me seem. Because I am different, people think I am weird, but I think that being different is a great thing and it's not like I'm doing it to be noticed. No one notices me (mainly, because I am weird and the weird ones are the ones you notice silently not out loud or not at all) and that's okay. What isn't okay, is when people make me seem like I'm a bad person or think it's okay to make fun of me. At least I'm not a copy of everyone else.

All in all, I've learned that the person I'm going to let love me for the rest of their life is going to have to love all of me not just some of me, but every last quirk and flaw. The person I love will of course get the same in return. I hope I meet someone like that.

Crush 1.23.15

What is it this time?!

No, this post is not about my crush. In fact, I only named it that because it's related to him, but I'm unsure of how I could name it???
Here is the story: My sophomore friend is trying to set me up with a sophomore boy so that I can stop liking my crush, which is pissing me off because it's none of her business who I like. I asked her if my crush was a bad person or did something pretty bad and she replied no. With that in mind, what would be her problem with me liking this boy? He's not bad! I ask her if one of her friend's likes him and she says no to that as well, but the difference in her voice (which I don't think people realize they do. It's good to just be an open book as Mark Twain says, "If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything." I used to think it was okay to lie, but when I read that it really got to me. Lying is bad, but not the point of this post.) was so obvious that you could tell she was lying. I didn't know why she would lie about that, what's the huge secret??? Two girls liking the same guy, it's happened many times, it's no biggie. He's very attractive, (in my opinion, my mom doesn't think so *chuckles*) why wouldn't other girls like him??? I'm not the jealous type, not in the least. I've learned that if you want to have a good life, nothing should ever trouble you. My sophomore friend said my crush is just a fantasy that will never happen, that it's impossible. Very rude I must say, because my idea of love is not as near the same as hers. To me love is about being friends first and if my crush were ever to ask me if I "like" liked him (To a certain extent I do "like" like him of course, but is not so strong that I would dwell over him. It is quite apparent that is infatuation. You can be infatuated with anything and not be in love with it.) I'd probably reply saying, "Did you think I liked you? I just wanted to be friends, dude." Of course, this sophomore girl i trying to tell me that I shouldn't be into one guy and yes I understand that, but it's not like I'm doing anything bad. I'm rather fond of him, but if he were to never speak to me again it wouldn't kill me.
I don't know what to make of this situation, but I really do hope the sophomore girl doesn't try to make this an even bigger thing. Her bothering me about trying to like the sophomore boy, who is by the way very funny, is not going to make me happy with her anymore. Sure, I love to laugh, but it doesn't mean I love the guy. If I really loved funny guys, then I'd love every guy (There are a lot of funny boys at my school actually.) I hope everything can be resolved very soon and maybe even my crush can become friends with me. I don't know if he is going to the dance, but if he does go then it would be very nice if he tried to talk to me. I'd be extremely awkward though. I don't know, he confuses me a lot. We catch glimpses of each other now and then, but I think it's only my imagination. Alas, this is the end of my post dear readers, I'm glad I was able to share this with you guys!~ I will try to stay lovely.

Girls Are Like Apples

Strange Post Name, Huh?

(I am trying my hand at different fonts, sadly I have to copy and paste from other documents to do this.)
My friend posted this on facebook (My friend took this quote from Pete Wentz, and I bet if I ask her who Pete Wentz is she won't know who it is.) today and I just had to share it with you guys, because I believe that what it says is very true. I am very sorry to the foreign readers, I will rewrite it down below the picture for you guys.

(Repeated for the foreign readers of my blog. Thank you very much for reading: "Girls are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don't want to reach for the good one because they're afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. So, the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.")

I believe this quote is very true. It's only my opinion and it's probably biased since I'm a girl, but I notice guys don't really seem to go for girls that are actually good for them, they go for the one's who don't really care about the boy, but the idea of having a boy to call hers. I don't like that one bit, but I must say, the really good guys have the same thing going for them. Girls are always saying "Why are their no decent guys?" and in my mind I say, "Well, maybe it's because you choose whoever wants you not necessarily who is actually a nice gentleman." There are no gentlemen these days. At least none I have met. :(
I hope whoever is reading this feeling a little sad that they have no one (especially with Valentine's Day coming up) feels better after reading that quote. I'm single and I must say even though I may have a crush on someone I don't necessarily care to be with him. I'm very happy being single despite other teenage girls who feel like they are nothing because they don't have a boyfriend. I hope someone genuinely loves me for me and that everybody who feels like no one likes them one day has the chance of feeling that they are loved by the person they love.

Crush 1.7.15

I'm Pretty Sure He Thinks I Do Not Like Him Anymore...

Is this a good thing or no? He looks at me more (or so my imagination would like to think), but he never passes through that corridor anymore. I really want to talk to him, but I don't know how I can do that. I want to talk to him through social media to make things easier, the tension will probably go away. Now, I'm not so sure. Maybe if he goes to our winter formal dance, I will get some answers, like if he asks me to dance??? Boys are such confusing creatures.

Feelings 12.19.14

This is a note I wrote to the kid I like (more or less) about how I felt about everything.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,
I could probably write down a million words to you right now about how I feel, but that would be too many and take up too much time. Instead, I'm going to write down everything I'm thinking of at this very moment at exactly 11:44 p.m.

I can't quite articulate the words into real life and that's why I ask you random questions that don't make any sense. i'm really sorry if it bothers you, but if it bothered you so much then I would have liked it better than you not telling me anything. It's worse not knowing what you think about the situation, than it is being slapped in the face with the truth. It might hurt for a while, but at least every time I'd have seen you I would have known not to say anything, because...Silence. Is. Bliss.

I know that I told you that I was "officially over you" but honestly you're so intriguing (and I don't even understand how, which makes it all the better) that I can't be "over you". I'm still not even sure if it is worth it to think you're intriguing when in fact you might not be. You might be NORMAL or SIMPLE or even *gasp* LIKE EVERYONE ELSE! If that were the case, I'd slowly get over you finally rationalizing that the idea of you was kind of dumb.

Right now you still interest me though.

(^_^ While I've been writing this I've been thinking, wouldn't it be cool if we communicated like this?! ^_^)

To be honest, the only thing I know about you is your name, age, and everything I can see on the outside...That's absolutely the worst to me. I'm weird like that. What I'd really love to know is little facts about you that have no importance at all. Those are the things that really make up a person, not the other stupid obvious things.

My friend and I were joking about you the other day (we actually do it a lot >_<) and she said, "I bet one day he's going to look back at these moments and say that his biggest mistake was walking through that corridor junior year!" I hope not, but it's probably true. I still can't even believe I even asked you what your name was. I'm actually really shy, so the fact I went up to you shocks me. I'm not really like that with people. I don't really like talking to them, because they don't understand and for some reason I saw you and thought, "He understands." I'm not sure what you understand, but you understand something.

I don't really know why I wrote this when you might just throw this away or you might make fun of me while reading this. I don't even get why I'm writing this anymore. I've never done this before.

Truthfully, everything before this paragraph didn't need to be in here, but I put it in anyways, because why not!~

...So really I just want to be your friend...We could be friends if you want...It would be cool.

Haha, I never introduced myself, but why bother now.

Thanks for reading you read this and sorry about my bad handwriting. Have a nice winter break!~ =D

My Crush 12.5.14

I'm Accepting That I Probably Won't Ever Get Over My Crush...

But I literally looked up in the search bar "I have a crush on a muslim boy" because I just want to understand where he is coming from better. I talk to him and he never looks me in the eye, always at the ground. He smiles, but...I mean it's so weird. I feel like he wants to say something in reply to me but he doesn't and so it confuses me. He's more complicated than a girl, honestly O_O. Another thing, I was reading through an answer online saying never touch them and well it explained something. The day I told him that I was "over him" I stuck out my hand, but I wasn't going to touch him I just make a lot of hand gestures when I talk to people and at that moment I did that on impulse (I played the scene in my mind beforehand) and he backed away. It was so weird, but then after reading that I was like "NO WONDER HE DID THAT!" and now I feel like he probably will never like me and also it just seems like we're from two different worlds. I wouldn't convert for him, heck no, and I wouldn't expect him to convert for me, but...I really do like him and I would like to think that somewhere in his heart he likes me back. I mean I see him talking to other girls easily and I don't know if they touch his shoulder or hand or head or by accident, but he seems okay with them which just makes me question myself even more. I had to write this down because I'm just really confused right now and I don't want to disrespect his culture/religion in any way. Well, it was good to get that off my chest...

How Do You Get A Guy's Attention

I've been wondering for a while now...

How do you get that special someone's attention. I think I'm going about this wrong, but if I get a 16 year old boyfriend who likes me for me with all my craziness that i decide to show him every other day then I think I've done a great job. If not, then how. I don't think anyone will ever love me just for that reason that I do not approach them with a "Hey, what's up wanna do this...?" I approach more like, "Hey, what's up, you look nice! Did you know that...?" I tell them something that probably most other girls wouldn't plus I'm weird behind the scenes and in person so I think that's either a total turn-on or turn-off. I will never know!~ I want him to tell me, but also I don't because what if he tells me to get away from him (then again he doesn't seem to be getting bothered or else he would have said something, no? Guys are jerks!) I really just want to say to him, "Hey, I like you, want to be friends?" but he never engages in a real conversation with me, so it's hard to tell if he'd ever actually be my friend. Like I don't think he'd ever say, "hi" back to me and that really disappoints me. I really want to be his friend, if even I get a chance, and if I'm lucky maybe I'll be his significant other. I really do hope so. All that horoscope stuff, well I find it as a hopeful thing, but I don't really believe it. When I found out he was a Gemini though (I'm dreadfully in love with Gemini's, like second coolest sign next to Virgo[I'm a Virgo]) I was freaking out.
I'm a romantic and I hope that one day I do find the right guy, but if not, I think I'll enjoy the single life very much.
If you could, please add a comment and help me out a bit. How should I approach this guy? He seems to smile, he even turns back when I tell him "Bye" to see me after I'm done telling him something crazy, so I don't know what to make of this. It's confusing. I'm more of a "tell me what you think of me no matter how bad it hurts" kind of girl. So not telling me is like "I NEED TO KNOW!!!"
Thanks for any advice, I appreciate it.

My Type Of Guy

Seeing as That These Days, I Don't Think Much Of Love I Thought It Would Be Best To Show Who My Ideal Guy Would Be:

Looks:

Looks don't matter much to me. Of course, I want the guy to be cute, but usually if the guy is a total jerk and for no reason (some people are justified for being jerks and so you have to get to know the person) I won't think he is cute. If the guy isn't as attractive, but a total sweetheart, well that will make up for his average-ness, but of course, looks don't matter much to me.

I'd say that I really love blonde hair, but like hair is hair to me. If you have jet black hair, I'd say that's pretty sexy and if you have brown hair, I'd think your smart. Dyed hair, I'd think you're a crazy person who I'd love to get to know and so that's why hair is a looks factor that I can be flexible with. Some girls are like "Eww, he's got a weird shade of brown for his hair, why would I date him?" That just doesn't make sense to me at all. It's hair.

Eye color is the same as hair, but I really love green eyes. They're rare, that's why. That makes a person really interesting.

Skin color doesn't matter either (but I know which race I really don't want to date and not for being racist, but because I'm simply not attracted to that race).

Looks are just looks. I'm not saying I don't look at them, no, I'd be a hypocrite if I did that. I'm just saying that they're at the bottom of the pyramid for what is important to me.

Personality:

So as forementioned, personality is a big factor in what I like in a guy. So I'll give you a list of what I'm looking for.

  • Not a sex-crazed freak. That is the last thing I want. I want someone who likes me for me, not for ulterior motives. LOL, I'm not that pretty though for someone to even look at me that way.
  • Shouldn't be afraid to be who they are. If they're into things that the posers are into, but they aren't doing it because they're a poser, then I'll respect that. No one should care about what others think of them
  • Sense of humor. If you aren't funny, then what the fuck am I going to talk to you about?! It'd be like talking to a plastic bag.
  • Smart. If you aren't smart, then we can't have intellectual conversations and anytime I say something you don't understand, I'd probably get annoyed.
  • Don't be jealous. The jealous type is just so, ugh!
  • You have to like my friends, well, just be nice to them at least. If my friends absolutely hate you and you're trying your hardest to keep a smile on your face, I won't condemn you for that. In fact, that's really sweet that you're trying hard for me.
Personality, is sort of a funny thing, because not everyone can posess these personality traits. I mean I'm fine with a pervert, but not a huge pervert do you know what I mean. If I really love you though I'd be able to live with all your flaws.

Other Factors:

  • You've got to have a good taste in music or at least stand behind why you like a certain type of music. If not even that, then you're just listening to listen and that's not cool dude.
That's it, wasn't much. Just a little something something for the people who were interested (no one) and for me to write something for today. Tell your friends about this blog. :) I'm happy for the views. No followers, but happy for the views.

Officially Over Him

My Biggest Goal In Life At The Moment Was To Tell That Kid That I Didn't Like Him Anymore...

AND GUESS WHAT?!

I DID!!!

On my way to English, I went up the stairs and M******* was like, "Look who's there." I looked up and it was him, so as we kept walking I waved at him and then I was like, wait this is the perfect opportunity. I can't miss my chance!

"Oh, wait, by the way, I'm officially over you!" I said to him. He just looked at me and then he said. "Umm, okay."

It was kind of a stupid outcome, but I figured it wouldn't end any better without a little bit of that Lovely Pizzazz.

I think we can be good friends though even though we're not very close. Still, friendships start that way and so every time I see him, I'll wave at him, because I still think he's a cool kid and I'd like to get to know him. You can't just fail on becoming friends with someone. That's horrible.

Well, just a little bit of info on the daily life of: Lovely Fortune!~

What I Deserved

This is a story I wrote for someone who was asking us on the dollars website to write a romance story where someone is supposed to be dead, but apparently they aren't so the person left behind has fallen in love with someone else now. What happens?! Well, read and find out. (6 pages) I think it goes a bit fast, but bear with me. Thanks for reading!~

I thought for a long time he was dead. For a long time, it seemed that way. The day Tristan went camping with his friends was one of the worst days I could ever experience, but I knew that he would want me to be happy. He wouldn't want me to wait forever, so I knew that I didn't want to wait forever because I knew I'd be unhappy if I did. I didn't think it was wrong.
The day I met Michael, I knew I loved him just as much as I had loved Tristan. He was just as handsome, he was just as strong, and he was just as mine.
I don't feel too wrong about it actually. I think love is love and that it shouldn't be about waiting. It should be about first sight. Of course, now I'm left with no love at all. I guess that's fine. I guess I can start over, but I don't really want to.
It could have been Tristan. It could have been Michael. It could have been me that was the problem.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Tristan, now I want you to stay safe on the trip," I said.
"Okay, mom!" Tristan told me laughing and I laughed with him thinking we would be laughing again once he came back and told me all the hilarious things that happened on that camping trip.
"Tristan, I'm serious. Stay safe," I said and I wrapped my arms around him to give him a kiss. We were eighteen fresh out of high school and trying to make our way through life together.
"Well, with that memento in mind, I think I'll definitely stay safe," he said. He was a sweet, charming boy. I loved him very much. He was my high school sweetheart and so I felt this strong connection between him and I.
His friends honked the horn of their worn-out car and Tristan looked back with a smile. He looked back at me and ruffled my hair. "Cherie, I'll be back on Monday. Don't do anything to crazy."
"What would I do without you here with me?" I said. He opened the car door and entered. I watched their car until I could no longer see it. Until the smog coming out of the engine was no longer visible. Until I could no longer feel Tristan there with me.
It was nice having the house to myself for the weekend. I loved having Tristan there, but it was nice to have some time alone. Tristan was always alone when I first met him, but I eventually made him break out of his shell. I guess he saw something in me, because now I'm his little sugarplum fairy. He's very into Tchaikovsky.
"Oh, Tristan, we never listen to your record of 'The Nutcracker' anymore. I'll tell you to play it on our phonograph when you come back," I told myself in the empty room. You never notice how small you are until you stay inside your house all alone. The silence was a little weird for me, since Tristan was always playing his piano or violin in the living room, but the silence was so lovely, because it reminded me of how Tristan and I were able to be together in silence without feeling weird at all.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had been two days and Tristan hadn't been back yet. I waited a little while and then it was eventually Tuesday. In my mind, I thought, "Well, maybe something came up."
Tristan's mom called me. "Has Tristan come back yet? He told me, he'd call me once he came back."
"No, he hasn't and I have no idea where he is. I'm so worried Mrs. Levine. He said he'd be back on Monday and it's Tuesday now. What could have possibly happened?"
"Don't be so worried Cherie. Everything will be alright. Let's just pray for Tristan's safety. I'm going to contact the police," Mrs. Levine said. Thank God, for Mrs. Levine. I would have never thought to even call the police. I would have just waited and waited and waited until I finally decided that I couldn't wait for him anymore and move on.
Mrs. Levine called the police, but they told her that she couldn't call until it had been two days of him being missing. We'd have to wait for Wednesday. Why?! I hate that 48 hour rule. Why?!
I played Tristan's record of "The Nutcracker" to calm my nerves and I dance around, pretending that Tristan was holding me in his arms. This made me feel all the better. Oh, how good it must be to be in someone's arms on such a cold night. It must warm the hearts of all the lovers in the world to be in someone's arms. Right now, I'll pretend I'm in someone's arms, but it'll never match up to the real deal.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wednesday. Today. The police came with Tristan's mom and they asked me tons of questions like was he acting weird and were his friends acting weird. Did he seem sad? Did he seem a little too happy? All these questions were a valid no. He wasn't troubled in any way at all, so for them to ask me if he seemed strange was absurd.
He was obviously missing in the woods, I told them. Mrs. Levine agreed with me, so the police decided to make a search party and they searched for all four boys, not just Tristan for a whole month and after a while they said that they weren't able to find him or any of the other's after looking thoroughly.
Mrs. Levine started trembling and she fell to her knees. I helped her back up and took her back home and I sat with her for a while just staring blankly at the wall. She started sobbing and I couldn't help but cry with her. We held each other tightly, because we knew that our beloved Tristan was gone forever. We were fast to accept that, but it was hard to accept.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We had a little funeral for Tristan and about twenty people came. We didn't dress in black though, we all dressed in white because that was Tristan's favorite color. We wanted his spirit to live on in our hearts. Wearing black would just be. . .horrendous.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought after the funeral that I would never want to be with anyone anymore. I thought like that for a long time. I kept the house though. I didn't want to give it to anyone. Since, I couldn't support myself without a job, I went and applied for a job as an assistant. One of those assistant's that grabs the coffee for their boss. It just so happens that my boss is a misanthrope. He's so unsociable that he won't ask for anything. Instead, he'll type it out, print it out, and hand it to me. I always try to make small talk with him, but he never opens his mouth. Not even to cough! It's so weird.
His name is Michael Glover and he looks like he never looks in the mirror. His hair is always a mess and he's always wearing mismatched socks. It's strange, but somehow it fits him.
He started talking to me after the first week. I guess he eventually cracked, because I have to sit in his room just staring at him and I think it annoyed and creeped him out. He refers to me as Ms. Launcelot and always says, I should call you Ms. Servant instead since Launcelot means servant. . .Or so he told me.
"Mr. Glover, do you need me to do anything for you?" I asked him at the end of the day. I always do this, because a happy boss makes a happy employee.
"Yes, Ms. Launcelot could you please try not to talk to me anymore," he said. "I don't mean to be rude, but I'm not sure that I'll reply in a way that would say that I actually care that you're talking. Do you know what I mean? I don't really like socializing with people."
"Yes, I've noticed, Mr. Glover, but can't we talk. It's not like anyone else really cares," I told him. "Do you think they care and that's why you're saying this or what?"
"No, Ms. Launcelot, just don't talk to me," he said.
"But why? I like you," I said. At the time I hadn't meant that I liked him like I was interested in him, but I liked him as a person, because there was something about his quirkiness that soothed my heart strings.
"You like me?" he said befuddled. It was obvious he wasn't told this much in his life. A small smile was on his face, but it slowly went away.
"Yes, Mr. Glover, you're a very nice guy," I said.
"Well, Ms. Launcelot that's kind of you to say. You can go home now," he said beckoning me out with his hand.
"That was weird," I told myself as I drove him listening to Mozart. I decided to ditch Tchaikovsky or else I'd just keep dwelling on Tristan's death and that wouldn't do me any good at all.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This morning on the list Michael had printed out for me this morning it said: Let's go have lunch together Ms. Launcelot. If you wish to that is.
"Mr. Glover, I'm flattered," I said. "Of course, I'll go eat lunch with you."
He didn't reply, just looked at me and then back at his work. I was sure that Michael must have had a hard time in life when it came to the topic of love. It was written all over his face. His cute, baby doll face.
As I kept looking at his face, I realized that he must like me and it just swirled in my head and all the feelings I had for Tristan came back, but they weren't for Tristan anymore they were for. . .Michael.
No, I couldn't be thinking about someone else like that. That was impossible. It had only been a week and some days after Tristan's death so should I really be feeling that way about someone else. It's love though, isn't it? Shouldn't I do what my heart feels?
This was quite the predicament, but I decided that I'd go to lunch with him, because we'd have to talk and whatever Michael had to say probably wasn't interesting in the least.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During lunch he took me to Olive Garden. That was in between fancy restaurant and fast-food diner I guess, but it was sweet of him.
"Thanks for inviting me to lunch again, Mr. Glover," I said.
"Call me Michael, Cherie," he said and when the name Cherie came off his lips it was like honey. So sweet. So nice. I just wanted him to repeat it again.
"Well, thank you Michael," I said.
As we ate our lunch we talked and surprisingly he was very interesting. He told me about all the things he went through in life and how hard it was for him to get to where he was today and that even I could do it. I haven't had much motivation since even before Tristan's death so this was really nice of him.
"Cherie, would you consider me as your significant other? You don't have to reply now, but please tell me by the end of the week. In fact, that's your. . .ASSIGNMENT!" he said with a chuckle at the end.
                "Yes," I said.
"Huh?" he said his chuckle stopping. "I said you had until the end of the week you know. Are you sure you just said the right thing?"
"Of course I said the right thing. I never think twice about love," I said.
                "LOVE?!" he yelled at me.
"Yes, love. I love you," I said.
"You're very, umm, well, candid," Michael said with a smirk on his face.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael and I quickly fell in love, made love, and told our love to the whole universe. It was very quick. It was much quicker than the relationship I had with Tristan. Everything was fast about it and I was used to more of a slow pace, but this sudden speed in my life was so invigorating that I could just not get away from it. Michael was pulling me into this fast paced lifestyle of his that was so absolutely perfect. I wanted my life to stay this way.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael and I were very far into our relationship now. It had been four years already and I had this utter feeling in my stomach that he was going to ask me to marry him.
I got ready for it and everything, because he asked me to meet him somewhere special. As I walked into the store to get my dress, I noticed someone from the corner of my eye. It looked oddly like Tristan, which was weird, because Tristan had such a unique look about him that no one else could possess.
"Tristan?" I muttered underneath my breath. It couldn't be.
"Cherie! Cherie!" he yelled. He looked as fine as the day he had left.
"Tristan?! Where were you all this time? We. . .We thought you were dead! Do you know how much pain you've caused us?" I asked him.
"I'm fine, I just. . .My friends and I were all sort of planning this. I thought that by the time I came back home I'd be rich, but I lost everything. You understand, don't you?"
And I did. I did understand, because he was Tristan and Tristan was my other half. Just like Michael. Who was the true other half then? "I do."
"Then you'll take me back yes," he said.
                "What?" I asked.
                "You'll marry me," he said.
"NO!" I yelled far louder than I expected. "Tristan, I. . .I just can't." I couldn't bring myself to tell him I had moved on and that I was with someone else now. That was probably my main problem right there.
"Why not?" he asked so distraught.
"You just wouldn't understand," I said running off until I could feel that Tristan was no longer there.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I went to the place with Michael, sure enough he proposed to me. I was so "shocked" and I of course said yes to him.
"Cherie, who is this?!" Tristan yelled coming out from behind one of the seats. The whole restaurant had seen Michael's proposal, but to think that Tristan was there was mind-blowing. It is so strange how things seem to all connect to each other in the end. Tristan came back and he ended up going to the same exact place I was going.
"Tristan, this is Michael. My new boyfriend. Or I guess now he's my fiancé," I explained to him.
"So when I left you just moved on even after you thought I was dead. We were supposed to spend our whole life together, Cherie! You promised!" Tristan said.
"Cherie, is this true?" Michael asked.
"Michael. . .Yes, but that's all in the past!" I said.
"All in the past? You loved me, you told me every day that you loved me and now it's all in the past! How fake is that! I can't believe I could ever fall in love with someone like you!" Tristan yelled.
"Cherie. . .I. . .I thought you were different," Michael said. "I don't think we should marry anymore."
"What? But Michael, I really do love you!" I pleaded.
"You really loved me once, too!" Tristan said.
"What a twist! I thought you were a really great girl, but you're just another phony amongst the rest of them," Michael said walking away.
Tristan and I stared at each other and my eyes asked him if he would take me back, but he simply walked away.
Everyone was clapping and laughing and cheering for Michael and Tristan and I was alone with everyone who was against me at this moment. I felt like dying right there, because my love was just so deep into these two men that I didn't face the fact that love is a fragile thing. They always say that hate is a strong word, but love is even stronger. It's something that takes a lot of thought. You can hate as many people as you want without it ever affecting your life, but loving people is a different story. It's hard to choose who you can love these days and my problem was that I wanted to love everyone.
Now I'm left with no one. I'm left on my own with no one to hug or kiss or have or call mine. I only have me and I guess. . .

I guess that's what I deserved all along.
