What is Skinny Privilege and Do I Have It?
As someone who is skinny, I find the concept of skinny privilege (any "*insert group here*" privilege for that matter) stupid. So what if we aren't fat? What difference does it make? Why do we get a privilege for weighing a certain amount? We don't. If you want to think we do, then that's on you.
Here are just a bit of things that I find to be a hassle living in my skinniness:
- Being called anorexic.
- Having things I wear once fit flimsily on me the second time.
- Physically only being able to eat a little bit of food and being criticized for it.
- When I am able to eat a lot of food, I get asked, "Where does it all go?" and "Good job."
- Getting told, "Guys want a little more meat."
- Getting told, "You're going to die if you don't eat enough."
- Getting told I'm going to look like a skeleton soon.
- Sleeping is very painful to my ribs at times.
- My ribs in general just feel weird when I scratch them.
- If I throw up, it's assumed that it's because I want to maintain my weight.
- Doing exercise makes me look like I am body-obsessed.
Of course though, skinny privilege. Here is the article I used. Enjoy and leave comments if you'd like. Thanks for checking this out!
