This Story Would Not Be Possible If...
My English teacher hadn't assigned it. Our warm-up today was to make a story using the line, "When I confronted him, he denied that he'd ever said it." At first I had so many stories about robberies and killings and other dangerous stuff, but then I thought, "Love is a silent killer. It breaks hearts and drives some to madness." It's very brief, so don't worry about reading a lot of words. Hope you enjoy!~

When I confronted him, he denied that he'd ever said it.
"I love you, darling," he had said. It echoed through my head for days and nights. I was so in love that I was blind to the fact that he was simply using me. I thought for sure his words were true until that dreadful day my heart was broken. I replay that day over and over again accompanied by his words.
"I love you, darling." They almost make my ears bleed, but somehow I feel I'd prefer that situation more than all the tears and the deep pangs my heart are experiencing now.
"I love you, darling." It seemed so real until I saw him standing with another girl.
"I love you, darling." That girl was my best friend. She knew how much I loved him, how much I wanted him to be mine forever. Can you ever really trust anyone though? Especially when it's matters of the heart. I just thought she was my friend. How could she?
"I love you, darling," his voice said with a hint of something more. It didn't sit right with me, but at the time I didn't care. Now when I look back at it, I can only think that perhaps "darling" wasn't me and his "I love you" meant something else. All I know is, I wish I hadn't taken it seriously.
"I love you, darling." And as those words run through my head I try to slow them down. How long had I been deceived?
"I love you, darling." Right here, right now he's telling me those words never came out his mouth. They were so sugar sweet and I knew for a fact they had.
"I love you, darling." He's walking away now with all the broken memories I wish had never been made. He goes into his car and I see her in there. It hurts. A lot.
"I love you, darling." I never know who I should be more angry at. My friend who agreed to be with him or him who played with my heart.
"I love you, darling."
I laugh now, "No, you don't." I walk back in my house laughing until I start to cry.
"I love you, darling." What a lie.
